| Painter, born in Nancy, NE France. He studied under his father, Jean-Baptiste Isabey (1767–1855), and became a marine and landscape artist associated with the Barbizon School. He was awarded a medal in the Salon of 1824, and in 1830 went to Algiers with the navy as a marine artist. Much influenced by Delacroix, he painted many scenes of the reign of Louis Philippe. |
