| Conductor, born in Bruges, NW Belgium. He studied at the Brussels Conservatoire and became a conductor of several opera companies in Belgium, France, and Italy before making his name in comic opera with the Carl Rosa Company in Britain from 1873. He founded the Goossens Male Voice Choir in Liverpool in 1894. |
