| English weaver. After visiting Ceylon (1903–6), she worked with Charles Robert Ashbee and the Guild of Handicrafts, and established ‘Gospels’, her workshop based at Ditchling, East Sussex, which became a creative centre for many weavers from all over the world. She also wrote a great deal, revealing a desire for rethinking the educational approach to handweaving, and a reassessment of its relationship to power-loom production. |
