| A family of French printers in Paris and Geneva. Henri I (1460–1520) founded the firm in Paris in 1501, and printed 130 editions of theological and philosophical works. His son Robert I (1503–59) was the most learned, editing c.510 works, mostly classical writers, bibles, and dictionaries. His son Henri II (1528–98), also of great learning, printed many classical authors (c.20 in first editions), bibles, and a great Greek dictionary Thesaurus linguæ græcæ. In all, some ten family members are known to have been printers. |
