| Businesswoman, born in New York City, USA. From a poor immigrant family, she worked her way up in the cosmetics industry by selling a face cream made by her uncle. She co-founded Estée Lauder Inc with her husband Joseph Lauder in 1946, and had great success with the fragrance ‘Youth Dew’ in the 1950s. She was named one of 100 women of achievement by Harper's Bazaar in 1967, and one of the Top Ten outstanding women in business in 1970. She published her autobiography, Estée: a Success Story, in 1985. |
