| German writer, born in Budapest, Hungary. One of the major proponents of the theory of biologism, his racial and anticlerical ideas made such works as Die Bauhütte. Elemente einer Metaphysik der Gegenwart (1925) highly popular among the Nazis. His poetry made use of archaic language, and in his historical novels he also used old-fashioned language for authenticity. In 1945 he was banned from writing for five years. |
