| Writer, born in Heidelberg, SWC Germany. A volunteer in World War 1, during World War 2 he served as staff member at the military headquarters in Paris. He was dismissed from the army after 20 July, 1944. His writing was admired by the Nazis, particularly his diary Im Stahlgewittern (1920) with its glorification of war, the soldier, and nationalistic ideals. He changed his style and ideas constantly throughout his work, which is characterized by its elegant style. |
