| biography:
| Electrical engineer and inventor, born in Uppsala, E Sweden. In 1901 he moved to the USA, and joined the General Electrical Company in 1902. He invented the Alexanderson alternator for transoceanic communication, antenna structures, and systems for radio reception and transmission. By 1930 he had perfected a complete television system, and by 1955 a colour television receiver. |
