| Dutch liberal politician, born in The Hague, W Netherlands. As an Olympic swimmer she competed in Rome and Tokyo and held the record for the 100 m freestyle in 1964–71. She entered parliament for the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD) in 1977, and became minister of public health, welfare, and sport in 1994. |
