| biography:
| Artist, designer, and illustrator, born in London, UK. He studied at Eastbourne School of Art and the Royal College of Art, and became a designer for J Wedgwood & Sons, his patterns including the travel series, coronation mugs, and Christmas tableware. As a wood engraver, he illustrated many books, including Twelfth Night (1932) and Elm Angel (1930). During the late 1930s he turned increasingly to watercolour painting and colour lithography. He was appointed official war artist in 1940, and was lost on air patrol. |
