| Playwright, born in France. A Normalien and agrégé in philosophy, he became a specialist on Diderot, producing Diderot ou la Psychologie de la Séduction (1997). He saw his first play, La Nuit de Valognes, performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. His second play, Le Visiteur, a dialogue between Freud and God, won three Molières. He went on from psychological theatre to the theatre of grand spectacles with Frédérick ou le Boulevard du Crime on Frédérick Lemaître, the first great popular French actor (1800–76). In 1994 he published a novel, La Secte des Egoïstes. |
