| Writer, born in Seravezza, Tuscany, W Italy. Self-taught, in 1910 he published with the help of Giuseppe Ungaretti the short stories Fole. A successful theatre-manager, he succeeded in re-establishing the traditional Tuscan May festival. He wrote novels with strong realistic accents whose main themes are autobiography and war, such as Moscardino (1922), Il volto santo (1924), and Peccati in piazza (1956). He also wrote plays (La rosa di Sion, 1919; La passione di Cristo, 1923) and poems (Montignoso, 1912). |
