| Catalan sculptor, born in Sant Feliu del Racó, Catalunya, NE Spain. His family moved to Barcelona when he was two. He served his apprenticeship with the sculptor Joan Roig while attending classes at the Escola de Belles Arts. In 1881 he set up his own workshop with Santiago Rusiñol, who had become a great friend and companion in his bohemian existence. He collaborated in the decoration of the Barcelona World Exhibition of 1888 and obtained the first medal of the Paris Exposición de Belles Artes in 1900. His best-known works are the statue of Jaume I in Palma de Mallorca and the figure Forjador del segle XIII which can be seen in the Cau Ferrat in Sitges. |
