| biography:
| Writer and painter, born in Gorla, Lombardy, Italy. He was a leading exponent of the scapigliatura literary movement, and committed suicide after a life of alcohol and drug abuse. His work includes poetry (Tavolozza, 1862; Fiabe e leggende, 1867) and prose (Schizzi a penna, 1865), and is characterized by expressionistic language and an occasional taste for provocative satanic imagery. |
