She made her debut in 1953 with Proeftuin (Experimental Garden), a collection of poems which show a strong influence of the Movement of Fifty with regard to imagery. In the 1960s her poetry became more realistic. Recurring themes include the longing for purity, honesty, and sincerity in an existentialist world. |
