| Writer and poet, born in Buffalo, New York, USA. She studied at Vassar College (1915) and Columbia University (1916 MA). Among her popular books for young readers were The Cat Who Went to Heaven (1930) and The Sod House (1954), a story of immigrants who move to Kansas. She married the naturalist, Henry Beston, and settled in Nobleboro, ME (1932). |
