| Dancer, choreographer, and artistic director, born in New York City, USA. He trained at the School of American Ballet, and appeared in both Broadway and Hollywood versions of West Side Story before joining American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in 1963, where he began to choreograph. He left ABT to found the short-lived American Ballet Company (1969–71), rejoined ABT for a few seasons, and formed Eliot Feld Ballet in 1974. In 1978 he started the New Ballet School, an organization that offers inner-city children the chance to become dance professionals. |
