| Footballer, born in Dakar, Senegal. The talented young striker moved from Rennes to Lens at the start of the 2000–1 season and is considered to be a star in the making. Senegal qualified for the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals by edging out rivals Morocco on goal difference, nine of Senegal's 14 goals being scored by Diouf, including two hat-tricks. The Senegalese fans have dubbed him ‘Serial Killer’ because of his prolific goal-scoring. Named in the 2002 FIFA All-Star team of the tournament, he joined Liverpool FC at the start of the 2002–3 season. |
