| biography:
| Interior decorator, born in St Louis, Missouri, USA. She studied at Parsons School of Design in New York, and in Paris, and in 1924 opened the first US full-service interior decoration firm, McMillen, Inc, retiring in 1975. The timeless quality of her designs came from an astute mixing of classical revival styles, attention to architectural detail, and good scale. Her successful career of some 60 years was recognized with a Légion d'Honneur for promoting modern French furniture (1952). |
