| Writer, born in Prague, Czech Republic. A German-speaking Czech journalist and novelist, he was a reporter in Berlin before being deported in 1933. He took part in the Spanish Civil War and spent World War 2 in Mexico. His accounts of these experiences elevated the status of journalism to that of a new literary genre. They include Der rasende Reporter (1925), Zaren, Popen, Bolschewiken (1927), and Entdeckungen im Mexico (1945). |
