| Hurdler, born in Dayton, Ohio, USA. Between August 1977 and June 1987 he ran a record 122 races without defeat. He was the World Cup gold medal winner at the 400 m hurdles in 1977, 1979, and 1981, the world champion in 1983, and Olympic champion in 1976 and 1984, only the US boycott of the 1980 Olympic games preventing a possible hat trick. He won the bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics. Between 1976 and 1983 he broke the world record four times. |
