| Photographer and writer, born in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. Brought up in Seattle, WA, he devoted almost the whole of his career from 1896 to recording the North American Indian tribes and their way of life, stressing their peaceful arts and culture. He published the first of 20 volumes in 1907, the last appearing in 1930. |
