| Poet and academic historian, born in Bridgetown, Barbados. His major achievement is contained in The Arrivants: a New World Trilogy (1973), which comprises his first three volumes: Rights of Passage (1967), Masks (1968), and Islands (1969). Later works include Mother Poem (1972) and Sun Poem (1982). His historical writing includes The Folk Culture of the Slaves of Jamaica (1970). |
