| Artist, born in London, UK. He studied at the Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art, and travelled widely in Europe and the USA. Well known as a colourist, his Surrealist paintings of figures against exotic (often Spanish) backgrounds are invariably in watercolour, as in ‘Soldiers’ (1942, Tate, London). He also designed for the ballet. |
