| Painter, born in Marles-les-Mines, N France. He studied with the Cubists, in particular Jacques Villon, which influenced his work. From 1945 he was a leading figure in the School of Paris and was a regular exhibitor at the Salon de Mai. His favourite themes were scenes of Ostend harbour, mining, and miners. Among his works are ‘Mineur mort’ (1952) and ‘Paysage’ (1987). |
