| Dancer, choreographer, and ballet director, born in Přerov, E Czech Republic. He studied at Prague's National Theatre and School, prior to dancing with Anna Pavlova's company. A soloist in the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo (1932–9), he stayed on in Melbourne during an Australian tour, opening a ballet school with his wife Xenia Nikolaeva in 1940. Out of this grew the Borovansky Ballet (1942), which proved to be a major influence on the Australian Ballet when it was formed 20 years later. |
