His five novels are Don Clorato de Potasa (1929, subtitled Andanzas de un hombre que se reía mucho de todo); Frente de Madrid (1942), a documentary deriving much of its interest from its portrayal of post-Civil War attitudes; the humorous middle-class novel La familia Mínguez (1947); the satire on the film industry Producciones García, S.A. (1956); and the Chaplinesque La piedrecita angular (1957). Among his collections of short stories are Eva y Adán (1926), Música de fondo (1936), and El día más largo de Monsieur Marcel (1966). His best play is El baile (1952), and his Poemas were published in 1967. |
