| Publisher and writer, born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA. A travelling salesman, he published his notes on eating out, collected over many years, in Adventures in Good Eating (1936). This pioneering restaurant guide promoted higher standards of food preparation and hygiene in American restaurants, and launched him as a guide and cookbook publisher and sponsor of the packaged food products by which he is best remembered. |
