| Prince of the United Kingdom, the third son of George V. Educated privately and at Eton, he became a captain in the 10th Hussars and was created duke in 1928. In 1935 he married Lady Alice Montagu-Douglas-Scott, and they had two children: William (1941–72) and Richard, who succeeded him. He served as Governor-General of Australia (1945–47). |
