| Postmodern dancer and choreographer, born in Palo Alto, California, USA. While at Princeton he studied dance, moving to New York City and the Merce Cunningham studio. While working for the Merce Cunningham Dance Company (1969–73) he met Yvonne Rainer. As well as performing in her work, he joined her as one of the founders of the experimental dance group Grand Union, with which he was associated for six years until 1976. In 1977 he founded his own company. |
