| biography:
| Playwright, poet, and novelist, born in Perth, Western Australia. Her plays are mainly epic, Expressionist works that feature music and poetry; her first was the working-class drama This Old Man Comes Rolling Home (1967). Others include The Chapel Perilous (1971), her most widely performed play, which was banned by the West Australian government for many years, The Man from Muckinupin (1979), and The Fields of Heaven (1982). Selected Poems appeared in 1991, and she later edited Sandgropers: A Western Australian Anthology (1999). Her only novel is Bobbin' Up (1959). |
