| Pioneer of women's education, born in London, UK. She was principal of Cheltenham Ladies' College (1858–1906), and in 1885 founded St Hilda's College, Cheltenham, as the first English training college for women teachers. She sponsored St Hilda's Hall in Oxford for women teachers in 1894. |
