| biography:
| Writer, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He was co-founder and editor of Revisor literary magazine. His views on literature were postmodernist and similar to those of Kellendonk, Matsier, and Meysing, who were called ‘Academists’ for their academic opinion that literature is not capable of representing reality, but that the representation itself is pivotal in literature. They demonstrated a preference for exposing the writer's routine, and questioned the relation between language and reality. In Kooiman's early work, such as Manipulaties (1971, Manipulations) and De schrijver droomt (1976, The Author Dreams), these issues were dealt with. In his later work he is less concerned with these issues and opts for a more traditional and ‘reader friendly’ approach. |
