| Influential Greek critic, historian, and rhetorician, from Halicarnassus in Asia Minor, who lived and worked in Rome at the time of Augustus. Much of his writing survives, including about half of his masterpiece, Early Roman History. Extending from earliest times to the outbreak of the First Punic War (264 BC), it is a mine of information about early Roman society. |
