| Poet, born in Burgo de Osma, Soria, NC Spain. He spent his early years in Segovia, where he became a leading Falangist; later, however, he turned to the democratic opposition. His poetry uses the classical forms of Garcilaso, particularly the sonnet, but he has also used versos sueltos to good effect. En once años (1950), a volume of selected poems, won the Premio Nacional de Literatura. The collected poems Hasta la fecha (1961) have been supplemented by Cuaderno catalán (1965). His prose works are Tiempo de reencarnar (1958), La Europa que se proyecta (1958), Dentro del tiempo (1960), En algunas ocasiones (1960), Escrito en España (1962), España (1963), Cataluña (1968), Cuaderno de Roma (1968), and Guía de Castilla la Vieja (2 vols, 1968). |
