| Athlete, born in Mission, British Columbia, Canada. An innovator, she was the first woman to use the ‘flop’ style in the high jump, pioneering the ‘Brill bend’ in 1967. She won the gold medal at the 1970 Commonwealth Games, and between 1970 and 1984 set 17 Commonwealth high-jump records. She was a member of four Canadian Olympic teams, but was unable to compete in 1980 because of the US boycott of the Games. |
