| Footballer and record goal-scorer, born in Birkenhead, Merseyside, NW England, UK. He turned professional with Tranmere Rovers at the age of 16, then joined Everton in 1925, and scored 349 goals in 399 games. In 1938 he played for Notts County for one season before injury ended his career. He still holds the remarkable scoring record of 60 League goals in one season. |
