| Poet, born in Rotterdam, W Netherlands. He studied theology in Leiden but did not finish his degree, and became director of a boarding-school in London. His humorous poetry, influenced by The Ingoldsby Legends of R H Barham, was published by Jacob van Lennep in 1859, under the title De gedichten vanden Schoolmeester (The Poems of the Teacher). |
