| Sculptor, born in New York City, New York, USA. He studied at several schools (1923–39) before becoming a medical photographer. Based in New York City, he came under the influence of European surrealists. The publisher and founder of the surrealist periodical VVV (1942–4), he used metal forms in his sculptures, as in ‘Suicite’ (1946). In 1965 he also began to work as a painter. |
