| Broadcaster, born in London, UK, the son of Richard Dimbleby. He studied at Oxford, joined the BBC as a reporter (1960–1), and became a leading presenter and interviewer on BBC television current-affairs programmes, such as Panorama (1974–77, 1980–2, 1989– ) and Election and Results (1979, 1983, 1987, 1992, 1997). He is also chairman of the BBC's Question Time (from 1994). |
