| Psychologist, born in Mt Vernon, New York, USA. A Yale PhD, he taught at Wesleyan University (1946–56) and Harvard (1956). He is best known for his works on motivation and achievement including The Achieving Society (1963) and Motivating Economic Achievement (co-written, 1969). |
