| Footballer, born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, N England, UK. A goalkeeper, he played for Peterborough, Birmingham, and Queens Park Rangers, before moving to Arsenal in 1989. He established himself as the England goalkeeper under Terry Venables, playing in the teams for Euro 96, World Cup 1998 and 2002, and Euro 2000, and by the end of the 2002 World Cup had won 73 caps. |
