| Composer, born in Brookline, Massachusetts, USA. He studied under Vincent d'Indy in Paris, and became a leading exponent of Neoclassical composition in the USA. He wrote books on American musical conditions and a study of Beethoven's string quartets. He composed three symphonies, the last of which is a study of Abraham Lincoln, and a considerable amount of chamber music. |
