| biography:
| Modern dancer and choreographer, born in Springfield, West Virginia, USA. He held a degree in pharmacy, but by his mid-20s was dancing full time, studying dance at Connecticut College and then with Martha Graham in New York City. From 1958 he performed with her company and with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. He joined Paul Taylor's company in 1962, creating many roles, and in 1969 formed the small group, Dan Wagoner and Dancers. With the retirement of Robert Cohan he was appointed artistic director of the London Contemporary Dance Company in 1988. |
