| Actress, born in Bordeaux, SW France. She appeared in numerous 1930s films, mainly light comedies. Her first dramatic role was in Mayerling (1936, director A Litvak). She married Henri Decoin, a film-maker, who helped her acting career. After the war she appeared as the queen in Ruy Blas (1948, director P Billon) and played the young unfaithful wife in Max Ophuls' La Ronde (1950), and later had parts in a number of Nouvelle Vague films. In the 1960s she returned to the theatre. |
