| Soprano, born in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, C England, UK. She studied at the Royal College of Music, London, and in Paris, and made her debut in Monte Carlo in 1907 as Tyrcis in Offenbach's Myriam et Daphné. She sang ‘Mélisande’ in Débussy's Pelléas et Mélisande in Paris, 1908, having studied the role with the composer. She is remembered for her Mozartian roles, such as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro , and as a renowned interpreter of the songs of Débussy, Fauré, and Reynaldo Hahn. |
