| biography:
| Studio potter, born in Vienna, Austria. Trained at the Kunstgewerbeschule, in 1938 she moved as a refugee to England, where she shared a workshop with Hans Coper, producing ceramic jewellery and buttons while continuing her individual work. She later produced stoneware, tin-glazed earthenware, and porcelain pots, with a precision and technical control that has influenced many of today's leading potters. A retrospective exhibition of her work was held at Norwich in 1981. She was created a dame in 1991. |
