| biography:
| Writer and traveller, born in Paris, France. She studied at London University, worked on the Baghdad Times, and mapped the Valley of the Assassins in Luristan (published 1934). During World War 2 she worked for the ministry of information in Aden and Cairo, and founded the Brotherhood of Freedom. She travelled extensively, financed by her writings, which include The Southern Gates of Arabia (1938), Dust in the Lion's Paw (1961), and The Journey's Echo (1963). |
