| Swedish composer. He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory, and in Paris. His large output includes five symphonies, five string quartets, a variety of large-scale orchestral works, and film and theatre music. His most popular work remains the Serenade for Strings (1937), the last movement of which formed the title music music for the BBC2 television series Monitor. |
