| Aircraft executive, born in Minerva, Texas, USA. After having worked in banking, he became manager of Texas Air Transport, owned by the Texas-Louisiana Power Co. In 1934 this company reorganized, becoming American Airlines, and he was chief executive until he retired in 1968, when he served as secretary of commerce for one year. |
